Fred Blogs has covered the pre-season so far, with the exception of the friendly matches. There’s a story on Kyle Nix returning to Australia (temporarily) with his brother Korey to help out with skills training at his old club in Brisbane, there’s some stats on points won and goals scored last season and there’s predicted line-ups and what-have-you.

In Praise of IPA

The finest invention known to man – the India Pale Ale. The name India Pale Ale (or IPA) refers to a beer that was created with higher amounts of alcohol and hops in order to survive the trip from England to India. Whether it’s Deuchars, Greene King, Marston’s Old Empire… it’s the hoppiness I like. Not only does the beer taste better, but the hops seem to make it mellow your mood. Young’s and Dark Star are next on my list to try, but I have a Banana Bread Beer and a Cain’s Raisin Beer to try first.

Sweet and hoppy. Tastes a bit fruity, this one – almost citrus. Not so strong that it’ll give you a thick head, but 4.1% is plenty strong enough for my ageing liver. 3/5 on the goodness scale.

0 = My Dad’s Homebrew
1 = Drinkable (just)
2 = OK
3 = Decent Brew
4 = Fantastico
5 = Perfection. This beer almost certainly does not exist.

I just wanted to share that with you all.

I particularly enjoy India Pale Ales and will be discussing these at interminable length. Deuchars is the best, but I do like the Marston’s IPA.
